Gun and Drug Charges Land Stone Mountain Man in Prison
A 29-year-old man from Stone Mountain, Georgia, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for gun and drug charges. On June 14, 2022, Mamadou D’Jire was seen making multiple marijuana sales at a gas station on Hairston Road in Stone Mountain.
A Dekalb County police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but D’Jire refused to stop, leading to a high-speed chase. ATF agents used their vehicle to block D’Jire’s car, but he accelerated, crashing into the agents’ vehicle and causing extensive damage.
D’Jire fled the scene but was quickly apprehended and arrested. Agents searched his car and found a semi-automatic 9mm pistol with an extended magazine, ammunition, marijuana packaged for sale, and a federal supervised release identification card.
D’Jire had been released from prison just a month prior to committing these offenses. He had previously been convicted of three violent felonies, including two burglaries and an armed robbery.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with assistance from the DeKalb County Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bethany L. Rupert prosecuted the case.
D’Jire was sentenced to 12 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $6,631.99. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing gun violence and making neighborhoods safer.
