Man Charged with Child Sex Exploitation

A disturbing case of child sex exploitation has come to light in Mansfield, Ohio. Michael J. Kisling, 24, has been indicted on multiple charges.

According to the indictment, Kisling is accused of using a 14-year-old girl to produce visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct between November 1, 2010, and November 22, 2010. He allegedly transported these depictions using interstate and foreign commerce.

The indictment also charges Kisling with distributing computer files containing visual depictions of a 14-year-old girl engaged in sexually explicit conduct on November 22, 2010, and April 4, 2013. He faces charges for receiving and possessing digital files containing similar content between January 28, 2013, and December 10, 2013.

Kisling is also accused of using a victim’s identity to commit a crime on April 4, 2013, and possessing printed pages containing child pornography on December 23, 2013.

If convicted, Kisling’s sentence will be determined by the court, taking into account factors such as his prior record, role in the offense, and the unique characteristics of the crime. The maximum sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael A. Sullivan. The investigation was led by the Canton Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Eau Claire County, Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Kisling is entitled to a fair trial in which the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, made the announcement. The case highlights the importance of protecting children from exploitation and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators to justice.
