Bryce Allan Larvie, Escape from Custody, South Dakota 2013

Bryce Allan Larvie, a 22-year-old man from Mission, South Dakota, has been sentenced for his role in a daring escape from custody.

Larvie, also known as Bryce Allen Larvie, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund by Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken of the U.S. District Court on May 29, 2013.

The escape occurred on July 20, 2012, when Larvie left the Community Alternatives of the Black Hills (CABH) facility in Rapid City without permission. He failed to return, prompting an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Larvie was serving a 24-month sentence for a destruction of an energy facility conviction that had been revoked in 2011. He was scheduled to be released on December 2, 2012, but instead made his escape, leading to a new charge of escape from custody.

Larvie pleaded guilty to the escape charge on December 28, 2012, and was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentence, which was the result of a joint effort by the U.S. Marshals Service and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Shattuck.

Larvie’s escape and subsequent sentence serve as a reminder of the consequences of attempting to evade the law. His case highlights the importance of accountability and the commitment of law enforcement agencies to bringing perpetrators to justice.
