Man Indicted for Assaulting Minor with Dangerous Weapon
A Sioux Falls man has been indicted for allegedly assaulting a minor with a dangerous weapon, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine.
Justin Stone Arrow, 37, was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 13, 2016, for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Substantial Bodily Injury, and Child Abuse, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Seiler.
The alleged assault occurred on or about March 10, 2016, when Stone Arrow allegedly assaulted a person who had not attained the age of 16 years with a dangerous weapon, resulting in substantial bodily injury to the minor.
Stone Arrow appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on April 19, 2016, and pled not guilty to the Indictment.
The investigation is being conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Carrie G. Sanderson prosecuting the case.
The maximum penalty for each count is up to 10 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Stone Arrow was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
