FORT WASHAKIE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULT BY STRANGULATION
A 25-year-old man from Fort Washakie, Wyoming has pleaded guilty to a serious crime. Xavier Brandon Guina has admitted to assault by strangulation and suffocation, a charge that carries severe penalties.
According to court documents, Guina entered his guilty plea on March 29, 2022, before United States District Court Chief Judge Scott W. Skavdahl. His sentencing has been set for June 17, 2022.
Guina faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment. A federal district court judge will determine the length of his sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Assistant United States Attorney Kerry J. Jacobson is prosecuting the case.
