CONCORD – In a grim testament to the dangers of drug trafficking with illegal firearms, Eddie Veilleux, a 58-year-old Manchester man, faced federal justice yesterday after being sentenced to 52 months in prison for his criminal activities. The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Samantha D. Elliott, also included three years of supervised release and the forfeiture of Veilleux’s 2020 Black BMW sedan.
Veilleux pleaded guilty in March 2025 to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance – fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine – as well as possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack emphasized the severity of Veilleux’s actions, stating that this sentence reflects the serious consequences faced by those who traffic drugs while in illegal possession of firearms.
“Drug trafficking, with its violent undertones, poses a significant threat to community safety,” McCormack said. “Our commitment is clear: we will investigate, disrupt, and hold accountable those who put our communities at risk.”
Acting DEA Special Agent in Charge Stephen Belleau echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the DEA’s dedication to ending drug-related violence. “Drug dealers are responsible for much of the violent crime across New England,” Belleau said. “This is unacceptable, and we will not allow it to continue.”
On November 24, 2023, Veilleux was arrested on state charges and found in possession of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, fentanyl, a scale, ledger, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia. A loaded Ruger .44 magnum revolver was discovered in the trunk of his car. As a previously convicted felon, Veilleux was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.
The Drug Enforcement Administration led the investigation with valuable assistance from the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney John J. Kennedy prosecuted the case, ensuring that justice was served for the community.
