A McKees Rocks man has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for conspiring to distribute heroin in western Pennsylvania.
Marcus Battles, 27, was sentenced by United States District Judge David S. Cercone. Judge Cercone also imposed a six-year term of supervised release to follow the prison sentence.
The multi-agency investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, involved several other law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Moon Township Police, the North Fayette Police, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, the Pennsylvania State Police, the McKees Rocks Police, the Cranberry Township Police, the McKeesport Police, and the Wilkinsburg Police.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States.
The investigation highlighted the ongoing battle against heroin trafficking in western Pennsylvania and the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies in bringing those responsible to justice.
The sentence handed down to Battles serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those who engage in such activities.
Battles’ prison sentence is a significant milestone in the efforts to combat heroin trafficking in the region.
