Heroin Trafficking Bust in West Virginia

A Clarksburg, West Virginia man has been sentenced for his involvement in heroin and marijuana trafficking in Harrison County. Marcus McBride, 25, was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day in prison.

According to a recent investigation by the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, McBride’s residence was used to store and distribute heroin and marijuana throughout 2014. The task force, which is funded by the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program, uncovered evidence of McBride’s involvement in the trafficking operation.

McBride pleaded guilty in March 2015 to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, aiding and abetting. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Morgan prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the sentencing hearing.

The Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force is a collaborative effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and violent crime in Harrison County. The task force has been instrumental in disrupting heroin and marijuana trafficking operations in the region.

McBride’s sentencing is a significant blow to the heroin and marijuana trafficking networks in West Virginia. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of community policing and collaboration between law enforcement agencies to combat crime.
