A federal jury in El Paso, Texas, has convicted a Mexican national of conspiracy to possess methamphetamine.
Maria Guadalupe Rivas Camacho, 38, was found guilty of the crime, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, on July 15, 2021, Camacho was found in possession of over 633 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine, which was stored in a house in San Elizario.
Camacho was paid $1,000 a week to stay at the residence and watch over the plastic containers that stored the methamphetamine.
During trial, it was also revealed that a tractor trailer would come at least once a week to fill the plastic containers with the liquid meth.
Camacho has remained in federal custody since her arrest on July 15, 2021.
The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys John S. Johnston and Richard D. Watts are prosecuting the case.
