Tennessee Man Charged with Transporting Illegal Aliens
Knoxville, TN – In a shocking turn of events, Mario Garcia-Duarte, a 22-year-old Mexican national, has been charged with transporting illegal foreign nationals in Tennessee. The charges stem from a traffic stop by Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Trooper Adam Bowman on June 11, 2013.
Garcia-Duarte, who was behind the wheel of a vehicle, presented a Mexican driver’s license to Trooper Bowman during the traffic stop. However, further investigation revealed 14 additional passengers in the vehicle, all of whom were in the United States illegally.
The vehicle was stopped in Knox County, and Garcia-Duarte, along with his passenger, Guadalupe Orellana-Morel, 20, of Honduras, was taken into custody. Garcia-Duarte remains in custody, awaiting his court appearance later this week.
The charges against Garcia-Duarte are a serious reminder of the ongoing issue of human trafficking in our country. It is crucial that law enforcement agencies and citizens work together to prevent and prosecute such crimes.
The indictment against Garcia-Duarte and Orellana-Morel serves as a warning to those who would seek to exploit and endanger the lives of others. As the case moves forward, the community can expect a thorough and transparent investigation.
Garcia-Duarte and Orellana-Morel are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The outcome of this case will be closely watched by the community, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
