Bank Robber Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

Mark Labenz, a 33-year-old man from Philadelphia, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbing four banks between 2009 and 2014.

The crimes took place at the following locations:

  • Citizens Bank at 2102 Cottman Avenue on December 31, 2009
  • Republic Bank located at 833 Chestnut Street on December 19, 2013
  • Prudential Savings Bank, located at 28 North 3rd Street, on December 23, 2013
  • Wells Fargo Bank located at 340-350 South 2nd Street on January 3, 2014

In the last bank robbery, Labenz physically restrained a bank customer while demanding money from the bank. He also stole the customer’s $400.

Labenz pleaded guilty on March 19, 2014, to the four robberies. In addition to the 10-year prison term, he was ordered to serve three years of supervised release, pay $5,889 in restitution, and pay a $400 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ewald Zittlau.

The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court, with Judge Juan Sanchez presiding.
