Maryland, Virginia Men Sentenced for Gun Crimes

Three men from Maryland and Virginia have been sentenced for their roles in a conspiracy involving the sale and transfer of firearms in West Virginia.

According to court documents, Thorn Ashton Guessford, 26, of Federalsburg, Maryland, was sentenced to three years probation for his role in the conspiracy. Guessford, who pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy in April 2018, admitted to being a part of a conspiracy to transfer and sell firearms across state lines from May until July 2017 in Berkeley County, West Virginia and elsewhere.

Stephen Clark Krieger, 67, of Federalsburg, Maryland, was sentenced to 24 months incarceration for his role in the conspiracy. Krieger also pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy in April 2018 and admitted to being a part of the conspiracy to transfer and sell firearms across state lines.

Glenn Eugene Oden, 39, of Stephens City, Virginia, was sentenced to six months incarceration for his role in the conspiracy. Oden pled guilty to one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in March 2018 and admitted to illegally possessing a .40 caliber pistol in May 2017 in Berkeley County.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. PSN has been historically successful in bringing together all levels of law enforcement to address violent crime.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Z. Krasinski prosecuted the cases on behalf of the government, with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police. Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the cases.
