Lima man Mason Shepherd, 28, has been charged with child pornography offenses in a federal indictment, announced U.S. Attorney Justin E. Herdman and FBI Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony.
According to the indictment, Shepherd knowingly received and distributed numerous images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct between 2013 and 2017.
The defendant’s sentence will be determined by the Court after reviewing factors unique to this case, including any prior criminal record, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation.
Under Federal law, the statutory maximum sentence for this offense is to be determined by the court. In most cases, the sentence will be less than the maximum.
The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Tracey Ballard Tangeman. The investigating agency in this case is the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
It is essential to note that an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Mason Shepherd’s full name, age, and city of residence were provided in the indictment. The exact dates of the offense, between 2013 and 2017, were also stated.
