Matthew Ungashick, Child Pornography, Ohio 2016

A Canton man has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for his role in distributing and possessing child pornography.

Matthew Ungashick, 40, was sentenced to 121 months in prison after knowingly receiving and distributing numerous computer files containing visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct in July 2016.

In addition to the computer files, Ungashick was also found to possess two external computer hard drives and numerous computer disks, each containing child pornography, according to court documents.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Sullivan following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Canton Police Department.

The charges against Ungashick stem from his July 2016 actions, which saw him knowingly receive and distribute child pornography. His possession of the external hard drives and computer disks further adds to the severity of his crimes.

The Canton Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation commend the efforts of Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Sullivan in bringing Ungashick to justice.
