Matthew M. Hansen, Child Pornography, Missouri 2007

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Missouri, with Matthew M. Hansen accused of attempting to entice minor boys to engage in sexually explicit conduct for him to videotape.

The alleged crimes are said to have taken place between 2007 and 2012, with Hansen using his supposed influence over the minors to coerce them into participating in the illicit activities.

Hansen, a resident of Winfield, Missouri, was indicted by a federal grand jury on eight felony counts of attempted production of child pornography and one felony count of possession of child pornography.

If convicted, each count of attempted production of child pornography carries a penalty range of 15 to 30 years in prison, while possession carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

Assistant United States Attorney Rob Livergood is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and St. Charles County Cyber Crime Unit.

As is always the case, charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.
