Matthew Ormon, Child Pornography, Massachusetts 2022

BOSTON – A Quincy man has been taken down in a federal investigation into child pornography.

Matthew Ormon, 50, was indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with receiving child pornography. According to authorities, during a search of Ormon’s residence on April 5, 2022, multiple electronic devices were seized, including two custom built computers and a network drive device. At least one device was found to contain a folder with numerous videos depicting child pornography.

The indictment alleges that Ormon knowingly received and distributed child pornography. If convicted, he faces a sentence of at least five years and up to 20 years in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.

Ormon will appear in federal court in Boston on June 8, 2022, before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Marianne B. Bowler. He was previously charged by criminal complaint on April 5, 2022.

The charge of receipt of child pornography is a serious offense that carries significant penalties. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI are committed to protecting children from exploitation and abuse.

The case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.

Ormon is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
