Matthew Trax, Production of Child Sex Abuse Material, Pennsylvania 2025

A Bridgeville resident has pleaded guilty to producing material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a grim discovery in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Matthew Trax, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of production and attempted production of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor. This heinous crime took place on November 30, 2023.

Trax employed, used, and enticed a 14-year-old female to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purposes of producing a visual depiction of such conduct. He sent the minor nine images and one video of himself engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor, which he had recorded on his phone.

Trax will be sentenced on August 21, 2025. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.

Trax remains detained pending sentencing. His guilty plea marks a significant step in the investigation and prosecution of this heinous crime.

Assistant United States Attorney Nicole A. Stockey is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Mt. Lebanon Police Department conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Trax.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The goal of this initiative is to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.
