Matthew Woodrome, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Arkansas 2018

A Bentonville man has been sentenced to 7 years in federal prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation in the area.

Matthew Woodrome, 36, was sentenced yesterday to 84 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for one count of Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute.

The sentencing was handed down by the Honorable Timothy L. Brooks in the United States District Court in Fayetteville.

According to court records, detectives with the Rogers Police Department received information that Woodrome was in possession of heroin and that he could be located at a hotel in Bentonville, Arkansas in July of 2018.

Officers conducting surveillance at the hotel knew Woodrome was on probation and that he had a search waiver on file. Officers observed Woodrome arrive at the hotel and exit his vehicle. Officers made contact with Woodrome and searched his person, resulting in the discovery of four baggies containing 5.38 grams of heroin.

The heroin was sent to the DEA Laboratory for testing, which confirmed the substance to be heroin. Woodrome was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2018 and entered a guilty plea in November 2018.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney’s Kimberly Harris and Dustin Roberts prosecuted the case for the United States.
