Maurice J. Paola Charged with Interfering with Flight Crew and Attendants
A 23-year-old Las Vegas man has been charged with a serious crime that put the lives of airline passengers and crew members at risk.
Maurice J. Paola, a 23-year-old Las Vegas resident, was recently charged by criminal complaint with one count of interfering with flight crew members and attendants which occurred on or about September 3, 2018.
The penalty for the charged offense is a maximum of 20 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
According to the FBI, the case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Paola will next appear before Magistrate Judge Cheryl R. Zwart at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018, for a detention hearing.
U.S. Attorney Joe Kelly announced an initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Zwart was held today for Paola.
The incident highlights the importance of airline safety and the need for passengers to respect the authority of flight crew members and attendants.
