A Honduran national has pleaded guilty to re-entering the United States after being deported.
Mauricio Rodriguez-Borjas, 38, was found in the country on June 1, 2017, after being deported on October 28, 2013.
According to court documents, Rodriguez-Borjas faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years and a fine of $250,000, or the greater of twice the gross gain to the defendant.
He also faces one year of supervised release after imprisonment and a $100 special assessment.
U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance set sentencing for October 4, 2017.
Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this matter.
The guilty plea is a serious blow to Rodriguez-Borjas, who now faces a lengthy prison sentence and significant financial penalties.
