Marlin Caceres-Guerrero, 28, Faces 2 Years in Prison for Illicit Entry
Grimy Times has learned that Marlin Caceres-Guerrero, a 28-year-old native of Honduras, has been charged with illegal entry of a removed alien in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
According to federal officials, Caceres-Guerrero was previously removed from the United States on May 3, 2013. He was later found in the Eastern District of Louisiana on February 21, 2017, without proper clearance from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security.
The indictment, which was unsealed today, alleges that Caceres-Guerrero knowingly re-entered the United States after being removed, violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 1326(a).
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge, and the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Assistant United States Attorney Jon Maestri is leading the prosecution in this matter. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency is being commended for their work in investigating this case.
If convicted, Caceres-Guerrero faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years, a fine of $250,000, one year of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment fee.
