ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – In a shocking turn of events, Max Flores, a 54-year-old Silver City man, has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition in a federal court in New Mexico. According to court documents, the incident occurred on December 10, 2024, when officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Flores, who was on federal probation after serving 168 months in federal prison. A firearm was located in the vehicle during the stop.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office, made the announcement today. The Las Cruces Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Silver City Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Randy M. Castellano prosecuted the case.
