Defendant Sentenced for Illegally Reentering the Country
A Honduran national has been sentenced for illegally reentering the country. Maynor David Casalegno Escobar, 29, was sentenced to time served (124 days) in U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine.
Casalegno Escobar pleaded guilty on May 30, 2025, to reentry after removal. According to court records, he was encountered by U.S. Border Patrol Agents during a traffic stop in Portland on April 10, 2025. During questioning, Casalegno Escobar acknowledged that he was not a U.S. citizen and did not have any authorization to be in the country.
Records checks confirmed that Casalegno Escobar had been previously deported from the U.S. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
Operation Take Back America is a collaborative effort between the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
