Sandy McNeal, Heroin Possession with Intent to Distribute, Pennsylvania 2012

PITTSBURGH – The gritty streets of McKeesport, Pa., were hit with a federal charge this week as Sandy McNeal, 30, was indicted for violating federal narcotics laws. United States Attorney David J. Hickton broke the news, detailing the case against the local resident.

The federal grand jury in Pittsburgh named McNeal as the sole defendant in a one-count indictment, charging him with possession of heroin with intent to distribute. According to the charges, on or around Dec. 21, 2012, McNeal had his hands on a quantity of a mixture and substance containing detectable amounts of the deadly Schedule I controlled substance.

McNeal now faces a maximum sentence of up to 30 years in federal prison, a fine that could reach $2 million, or both. The severity of the offense, along with any prior criminal history, will determine the actual sentence imposed under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Assistant United States Attorney Katherine A. King is spearheading the prosecution on behalf of the government, ensuring justice is served for this drug-related crime. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted the investigation that led to McNeal’s indictment, demonstrating their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in the area.

It’s important to remember that an indictment is merely an accusation, and McNeal is presumed innocent until proven guilty. His legal journey continues as he faces these serious charges.
