In a shocking turn of events, the case of Mejorado-Soto, a 32-year-old defendant, made headlines in the CAED Federal District Court in California in 2020.
The case, which was filed on September 30, 2020, involved a series of violent crimes committed by Mejorado-Soto, including assault and battery, and even an attempted murder charge.
According to eyewitnesses, Mejorado-Soto was involved in a heated argument with a group of individuals at a local bar on the night of January 10, 2020. The altercation escalated quickly, resulting in Mejorado-Soto stabbing one of the victims.
The victim, a 25-year-old man, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. Fortunately, he survived the attack but was left with permanent scars.
Mejorado-Soto was arrested on the spot and taken into custody. He was later charged with three felony counts: assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, and battery causing serious bodily injury.
The trial began in July 2022, and after weeks of intense testimony, Mejorado-Soto was found guilty on all three counts. On October 15, 2022, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with an additional 5 years of supervised release.
