Merrimack’s Kyle Mehlhorn Sentenced to Decade for Meth, Firearms

CONCORD – In a fierce crackdown on drug trafficking, Kyle Mehlhorn, 28, of Merrimack, has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for his role in distributing methamphetamine and firearms. According to the Department of Justice USAO, this sentence sends a clear message that law enforcement is committed to keeping New Hampshire’s streets safe.

Mehlhorn’s crime spree began on October 27, 2020, when he was pulled over by Manchester police for using stolen license plates. His vehicle harbored over 209 grams of meth and 28 grams of fentanyl, as well as items for drug packaging and cash totaling $13,800. The discovery of two loaded firearms only intensified the gravity of his charges.

Not content with one bust, Mehlhorn was arrested again in Boston on January 2, 2021, this time armed with a 9mm handgun and carrying over 196 grams of meth and 187 grams of fentanyl. An additional .22 caliber firearm was found during the search of his vehicle.

Mehlhorn pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and firearms charges on August 6, 2021. He will be forced to forfeit all seized weapons and cash. Authorities have already forfeited other money and firearms linked to his initial arrest.

Acting U.S. Attorney John J. Farley emphasized the danger posed by armed drug traffickers like Mehlhorn, noting that as a convicted felon, he should not have had access to firearms. Special Agent in Charge Joseph R. Bonavolonta of the FBI Boston Division vowed to continue collaborating with law enforcement to rid communities of such threats.

Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg praised the efforts of his officers and detectives in this case, reflecting on their dedication to partnership and accountability. The investigation was a joint effort involving multiple agencies, including the FBI, ATF, and local police departments.
