Meth Dealer Busted

⏱ 2 min read

Jerry Thomas McCarigie, a 49-year-old meth dealer from Panama City Beach, Florida, was sentenced to over six years in federal prison for possessing with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of methamphetamine. The bust went down on November 15, 2023, at a motel in Panama City Beach, where law enforcement found McCarigie with fentanyl, multiple baggies of meth, and a digital scale. The investigation was a joint effort by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration, targeting the scourge of methamphetamine in the community.

McCarigie’s sentence is a direct result of Operation Take Back America, a initiative launched by President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi to dismantle and eradicate drug trafficking networks. The operation has led to several successful prosecutions, with McCarigie’s case being the latest example of the Department of Justice’s commitment to delivering safe, drug-free streets.

The investigation and subsequent trial revealed that McCarigie was found with over 48 grams of methamphetamine, a significant amount that highlights the severity of the crime. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida, with U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin praising the collaboration between state and federal law enforcement partners.

After serving his prison term, McCarigie will be required to serve 4 years on supervised release. The sentence serves as a warning to other drug dealers in the Panhandle region, with the DEA and other law enforcement agencies committed to bringing them to justice.
