Meth Dealer Sentenced to 5 Years
A Blackfoot man has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for his role in distributing methamphetamine in southeastern Idaho. Ernesto Guerrero, 35, of Blackfoot, Idaho, was sentenced in United States District Court to 60 months in prison for distribution of five grams or more of actual methamphetamine.
According to the plea agreement, Guerrero arranged for and sold more than five grams of actual methamphetamine to another individual in exchange for $1,400 on August 23, 2011. The distribution took place near Bannock and Truchot Roads in Fort Hall, Idaho.
Guerrero admitted to knowing the substance he distributed was methamphetamine. The case was investigated by Idaho State Police and the Fort Hall Police Department.
U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced the sentencing. U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also ordered Guerrero to serve three years of supervised release.
Guerrero pleaded guilty to the charge on March 18, 2013. The sentencing comes as a result of a long-term investigation into Guerrero’s activities.
The sentencing brings an end to a case that began with Guerrero’s arrest in 2011.
