Davon Jamir Linder, a 24-year-old Beckley man, has been caught in a major federal drug sting and is now facing 20 years behind bars for his role in distributing methamphetamine in southern West Virginia.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on February 27, 2023, Linder sold a controlled substance containing methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Beckley. The defendant Davon Jamir Linder, 24, of Beckley, pleaded guilty to the crime in a hearing presided over by United States Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn.
Linder is scheduled to be sentenced on September 13, 2024, and if convicted, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. The harsh sentence is a stark reminder of the gravity of the crime and the consequences of engaging in illicit activities.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, which consists of officers from the West Virginia State Police, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and the Beckley Police Department. United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the authorities involved in the case.
