Vincent McDaniel, Methamphetamine Possession, Louisiana 2023

SHREVEPORT, La. – A Homer man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution operation.

According to court documents, Vincent McDaniel, 44, of Homer, was found in possession of 526.7 grams of methamphetamine after a bag containing the drug was discovered in a relative’s clothes dryer.

The discovery was made on November 12, 2015, after McDaniel’s relative contacted law enforcement to report finding something suspicious in a bag that had been left in the dryer. McDaniel had asked for access to the home while the relative was away, and had asked other relatives to retrieve the bag for him before law enforcement could obtain it.

McDaniel was arrested and charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty to the charge on March 9, 2017, and was sentenced to 120 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release.

The investigation into McDaniel’s methamphetamine operation was conducted by the DEA and the Homer Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney James G. Cowles prosecuted the case.
