Meth Kingpin Lands 5 Years Probation
A 66-year-old man from Maysville, West Virginia, has been sentenced to five years of probation for his role in a methamphetamine distribution operation, according to court documents obtained by Grimy Times.
Gary Smith, the defendant, was found guilty of one count of “Unlawful Use of a Communication Facility” in July 2017. Smith admitted to using a communication facility to possess methamphetamine in Grant County in November 2016.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, working closely with the United States Postal Inspection Service and the West Virginia State Police, who investigated the case.
U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the sentencing hearing. Smith’s sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit activities.
The case serves as a warning to those involved in the illicit methamphetamine trade that law enforcement agencies will continue to crack down on those responsible.
Grimy Times will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
