Meth Kingpin Sentenced to 12+ Years
A Columbus man has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for his role in a Marshall County methamphetamine operation. Malcom X. Lewis, 28, was sentenced to 151 months of incarceration for his involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine in January 2020.
Lewis pleaded guilty in March 2021 to one count of “Distribution of Methamphetamine.” He admitted to selling the highly addictive substance in Marshall County, West Virginia. The charges against him were brought by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shawn M. Adkins and Clayton J. Reid, who prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
The investigation into Lewis’s activities was a joint effort between the Marshall County Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. The task force played a crucial role in bringing Lewis to justice, and their efforts were instrumental in gathering evidence against him.
U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the sentencing hearing, where Lewis was given the maximum sentence allowed under the law. The sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the harm that methamphetamine can cause to individuals and communities.
