Meth Mule ‘Sioux Z’ Admits Hopi Reservation Dealings

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Vanessa Rene Dundon, 38, of Indian Wells, Arizona, known on the streets as “Sioux Z” and “Suzie Q,” has pleaded guilty to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. The guilty plea, entered last week, brings Dundon one step closer to facing the consequences for flooding the Hopi Reservation with the deadly drug.

Federal authorities say Dundon wasn’t exactly subtle. She was stopped by law enforcement on the Hopi Reservation not once, not twice, but three times – in April 2021, March 2022, and again in April 2022 – each time with controlled substances stashed in her vehicle. It was the April 17, 2022, stop that sealed her fate. Dundon confessed to possessing a significant quantity: 58.4 grams of pure methamphetamine, clearly intended for sale.

The investigation, a joint effort between the Phoenix Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Hopi Law Enforcement Services, revealed a pattern of Dundon using the Hopi Reservation as a distribution point. Details of her network remain under wraps, but authorities suggest she wasn’t operating alone. The 58.4 grams represents a substantial amount, enough to inflict serious damage on the community.

Dundon’s admission comes with a steep potential price. A conviction for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine carries a maximum sentence of 20 years behind bars and a hefty fine of up to $1,000,000 – or both. Judge Diane J. Humetewa will hand down the sentence on April 18, 2023, in Phoenix.

Assistant United States Attorneys from the Violent Crime Section of the District of Arizona are prosecuting the case, determined to see Dundon held accountable for her actions. This case serves as a stark reminder that federal agents are actively working to dismantle drug operations targeting Native American communities.
