Meth Trafficker Busted

⏱ 2 min read

Nathan Wilnau, a 51-year-old Billings man, was caught with 10 pounds of methamphetamine while traveling from Wyoming in June 2023. Wilnau, working with a partner, Christina Lavon Hill, was helping bring methamphetamine from California via Wyoming into Billings. The duo’s operation was busted when Wilnau was pulled over, and agents found the massive stash of meth in his vehicle. Wilnau pleaded guilty in February 2026 to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The investigation, conducted by the DEA and Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, revealed that Hill was sending money to a source in San Francisco, who then sent packages of meth to Cody, Wyoming. Wilnau would then retrieve the packages and bring them back to Billings. On his last trip, Wilnau’s luck ran out, and he was caught with over 10 pounds of meth.

Wilnau’s sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters, who gave him 135 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case, which marks a significant blow to meth trafficking in the region.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in Montana. The DEA and local agencies have been working tirelessly to disrupt the supply chain of illicit drugs, and Wilnau’s sentencing is a testament to their hard work.
