Damarko Amir Kimble, Meth Trafficking and Assaulting a Federal Officer, Ohio 2024

⏱ 2 min read

A 29-year-old Michigan man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine and assaulting a federal officer in Ohio. Damarko Amir Kimble, of Detroit, was caught with 577.7 grams of pure methamphetamine in his rental vehicle at a service plaza parking lot on the I-80/90 turnpike in Sandusky County on October 7, 2024. The vehicle had expired registration tags, prompting federal officers to investigate. When they attempted to arrest Kimble, he knocked one of the officers to the ground and tried to flee.

The investigation was led by the U.S. Border Patrol Sandusky Bay Station, and Assistant United States Attorney Dexter L. Phillips prosecuted the case. Kimble pleaded guilty in April to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Assaulting, Resisting, and Impeding a Federal Officer.

The methamphetamine was discovered in a backpack on the rear floorboard of Kimble’s vehicle, which was searched after a K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal substances. The substance was later confirmed to be methamphetamine at a forensic laboratory.

Kimble was sentenced to 121 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Jack Zouhary and will also serve five years of supervised release after his imprisonment.
