PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA – A joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has led to the indictment of Glenn D. Stewart, 37, of Vernon, Florida, on federal drug trafficking charges.
Stewart has been arraigned in court and is being held in custody pending further proceedings. The indictment, announced by United States Attorney Christopher P. Canova, charges Stewart with conspiracy and six counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
According to the indictment, Stewart conspired with others to distribute the controlled substance methamphetamine on various dates this year, and possessed methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it. Assistant United States Attorney Gary Milligan is prosecuting the case.
The trial is scheduled for February 6, 2017, at 8:15 a.m. at the United States Courthouse in Panama City. It is essential to note that an indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has committed a violation of federal criminal law and is not evidence of guilt.
Stewart is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
