Gabriel Farias-Lopez, Conspiracy to Possess Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Texas 2022

A Fort Worth couple has been sentenced for their roles in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy.

Fort Worth, Texas – A federal judge has imposed lengthy prison sentences on two defendants who pleaded guilty to felony offenses stemming from their respective roles in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.

U.S. District Judge Reed C. O’Connor sentenced Gabriel Farias-Lopez, 37, to 210 months in federal prison for his role in the conspiracy. Farias-Lopez pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

Co-defendant Kimberly Robles-Rueda, 20, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for her role in the conspiracy. Robles-Rueda pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.

According to documents filed in the case, Farias-Lopez received kilogram-quantities of methamphetamine from a source in Mexico that he subsequently distributed in the Dallas – Fort Worth, Texas, area. Robles-Rueda collected the drug proceeds for the methamphetamine that Farias-Lopez distributed.

During a traffic stop on June 23, 2015, law enforcement found Farias-Lopez and Robles-Rueda in possession of approximately four kilograms of methamphetamine ice. Robles-Rueda had nearly $8,000 cash in her purse. A subsequent search of their shared home on Travis Avenue in Fort Worth turned up liquid methamphetamine and methamphetamine ice, with a combined weight of approximately three kilograms, and $25,000 in cash.

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Smith leading the prosecution. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing threat of methamphetamine trafficking in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
