Mexican, Bolivian Nationals Face Drug Charges After Meth Seizure

Eugene, Ore. – A massive drug seizure has sent shockwaves through Oregon as two suspected traffickers were caught with more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. Jesus Campos Roman, 29, a Mexican national unlawfully residing in Washington, and Eduar David Freites-Mosquera, 27, a Bolivian national also unlawfully residing in Washington, now face federal charges for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute the illegal substances.

The drugs were discovered during a traffic stop on July 30, 2025, when an Oregon State Police officer noticed suspicious behavior. A drug detection dog confirmed the presence of narcotics, leading to a search that uncovered numerous packages containing over 110 pounds of meth, five pounds of cocaine, and four pounds of fentanyl pills.

Roman and Freites-Mosquera were arraigned today before a U.S. Magistrate Judge, where they were ordered detained pending further court proceedings. The DEA and Oregon State Police are handling the investigation, with Joseph Huynh, Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, prosecuting the case.

Both men have been labeled as illegal aliens residing in the United States without proper documentation. Their arrest comes as a significant victory for law enforcement agencies fighting to curb drug trafficking across the state. This is another stark reminder of the dangers posed by organized crime and the relentless effort required to combat it.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
