Mexican Citizen Lara-Contreras Indicted for Illegal Reentry

HARRISBURG, PA – In a stunning turn of events, Armando Lara-Contreras, a 33-year-old Mexican citizen, has been indicted for the heinous crime of illegal reentry into the United States. According to federal prosecutors, Lara-Contreras was previously booted out of the country on February 24, 2016, through Brownsville, Tx, only to sneak back in without legal clearance.

The feds allege that Lara-Contreras was apprehended in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on April 29, 2024. United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam confirmed the charges against the defendant.

“This is a clear violation of our immigration laws, and it sends a strong message that illegal reentry will not be tolerated,” said Karam. “Lara-Contreras faces serious consequences for his actions.”

The investigation into Lara-Contreras\’s illegal activities was spearheaded by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant United States Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe is now prosecuting the case with determination.

In addition to imprisonment, supervised release following imprisonment, fines, and a special assessment await Lara-Contreras if convicted of the charges against him. The severity of the sentence will be determined by the court after considering federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
