Braulio Villa-Chairez, alias ‘Raul,’ a 31-year-old Mexican national living in the United States illegally, entered a guilty plea today for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The plea came after an extensive investigation by federal and local law enforcement.
According to court documents, Villa-Chairez conspired with others to distribute large quantities of meth across the country, including 1.97 kilograms sent from Texas to West Virginia in July 2024. He also shipped meth to Alabama and assisted in delivering approximately 6 kilograms more to West Virginia in October 2024.
Before his plea, Villa-Chairez had been living under a false name, Jose Jesus Villa-Chairez, and has previously faced two federal felony convictions. Sentencing is set for December 8, 2025, with a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine.
The case was part of a larger investigation that resulted in the indictment of Villa-Chairez alongside two other Mexican nationals. One co-defendant, Silvester Barcenas, has already pleaded guilty, while German Francisco Diaz remains a fugitive.
United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the efforts of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and MDENT for their work in this case. The hearing was presided over by United States Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn, with Assistant United States Attorney Jeremy B. Wolfe handling the prosecution.
