Raleigh Man Indicted on Illegal Reentry Charges
Raleigh, NC – Ezequiel Cuauhtemoc Macedo-Magadan, a 48-year-old Mexican national, has been indicted on charges of illegal reentry, the Eastern District of North Carolina’s U.S. Attorney’s office announced.
According to the indictment, Macedo-Magadan, who has been deported from the United States four times, was found in Wake County. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and a term of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The case is being investigated by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
Macedo-Magadan’s indictment marks the fifth time he has been charged with illegal reentry. His previous deportations have not deterred him from attempting to re-enter the country.
The U.S. Attorney’s office has not specified when Macedo-Magadan was deported or how many times he has attempted to re-enter the country. However, the indictment makes it clear that he is a repeat offender when it comes to crossing the border illegally.
The case highlights the ongoing issue of immigration enforcement and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in keeping track of individuals who have been deported from the country.
