Mexican National Jailed for Meth Conspiracy

ALBUQUERQUE – Hardened drug kingpin Javier Amador-Flores, 50, a Mexican national living in Denver City, Tex., has been locked up for a decade after being convicted of a massive methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy. Sentenced to 120 months in federal prison, the sentence was handed down in Las Cruces, N.M., yesterday.

Amador-Flores was nabbed on July 29, 2015, when he and four co-conspirators were charged with distributing methamphetamine in Lea County, N.M., from May 1 to May 6, 2015. The operation was a massive conspiracy that saw thousands of dollars worth of the drug moved across state lines.

According to court documents, Amador-Flores played a significant role by receiving and storing shipments at his residence in Denver City. His cohorts, including Joel Dominguez-Morales, 41; Maria Marcelina Cardoza-Burciaga, 41; Jose Manuel Trujillo, 42; and Myrna Orozco, 32, were all involved in various stages of the trafficking network.

The DEA’s undercover operation led to the capture of Dominguez-Morales and Cardoza-Burciaga near an abandoned bar outside Hobbs, NM. They were carrying nearly four kilograms of meth at the time of their arrest. All four conspirators have since faced justice; Dominguez-Morales was sentenced to 145 months, Cardoza-Burciaga to 78 months, and Orozco to 70 months.

Trujillo remains on the lam as a fugitive. His fate awaits his capture and legal proceedings. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Brock Taylor and Matthew Beck of the Las Cruces branch office prosecuted the case, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations, Customs and Border Protection, and the Lea County Drug Task Force.

The Lea County Drug Task Force is a collaborative effort among local law enforcement agencies across the region, part of the NM HIDTA Region VI Drug Task Force. The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program was established in 1988 to combat drug trafficking on a national scale through coordinated efforts and information sharing.
