Burlington, Vermont – The gritty streets of Vermont witnessed a federal indictment against Samuel Alfaro-Sanchez, 31, a Mexican national, who was charged with illegal reentry into the United States. The crime, a stark reminder of the immigration battles in America, unfolded on August 21, 2025.
Alfaro-Sanchez, accused of being found in the US after having been previously removed from the country, is no stranger to legal trouble. Court records reveal a pattern of illegal entries and expulsions, starting with his apprehension near Tucson, Arizona, in 2008. Since then, Alfaro-Sanchez has been the subject of numerous deportations across various states.
The defendant entered a plea of not guilty during an arraignment on August 28, 2025, before United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle. Despite his legal history, Judge Doyle ordered Alfaro-Sanchez’s detention pending further proceedings.
