Dale Robinson, Bribery of Contractor, Florida 2024

MIAMI, FL – A once-powerful figure in Miami-Dade Transit is headed to federal prison after admitting to shaking down a contractor for a $75,956 bribe. Dale Robinson, a former Track and Guideway Supervisor, was sentenced yesterday to 18 months imprisonment followed by 3 years of supervised release. His wife, Marcia Robinson, received 3 years of probation for her role in covering up the scheme.

The dirty deal unfolded around January 2021, while North Dakota-based JB Railroad Contracting, Inc. was already working on a Metrorail fastener replacement project and angling for a lucrative welding contract. According to court documents, Robinson strong-armed Jessie Bledsoe, co-owner of JB Railroad, demanding a hefty bribe in exchange for ensuring JB Railroad secured the welding gig. Bledsoe, facing pressure and eager to land the contract, caved and agreed to pay.

But Robinson didn’t want the cash hitting his account directly. He instructed Marcia Robinson, residing in Maryland at the time, to establish a shell company – Tailored Railroads & Consulting LLC – and open a dedicated bank account. Between February 2021 and February 2022, Marcia Robinson sent four bogus invoices from Tailored Railroads to JB Railroad, knowing full well no legitimate services were rendered. Bledsoe dutifully issued four checks, totaling $75,956, effectively laundering the bribe money.

While Marcia Robinson claimed limited knowledge of the full scope of her husband’s arrangement with Bledsoe, prosecutors proved she was aware the payments were connected to Dale Robinson’s influence over the contract selection. Crucially, she remained silent, actively concealing the criminal activity instead of alerting authorities. This silence earned her a felony conviction for misprision of a felony and a three-year probation sentence.

The feds haven’t let Bledsoe off the hook either. He’s already pleaded guilty to paying the bribe and is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom on October 3, 2025. A forfeiture judgment of $75,956 against Dale Robinson has already been satisfied; he’s already paid up. The case was spearheaded by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida, with assistance from the FBI Miami field office and the Miami-Dade County Office of Inspector General (MDC-OIG).

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Edward N. Stamm and Marx Calderon are the names to remember on this one. This case serves as a grim reminder that corruption can seep into even the most essential public services, and those who abuse their positions will face the consequences – even if it takes years to surface.
