Pensacola Felon Sentenced for Gun Posession

PENSACOLA, FL – Christ’Avian X’Zayvia Rayshon Sheard, a 19-year-old Pensacola resident, was handed a 30-month federal prison sentence for possession of a loaded firearm as a convicted felon. United States Attorney John P. Heekin announced the term following Sheard’s guilty plea.

Records indicate that on April 2, 2024, law enforcement found Sheard with marijuana and a Taurus 9mm pistol at Sanders Beach. The defendant had previously been convicted of aggravated assault by threat with a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm.

U.S. Attorney Heekin emphasized the Operation Take Back America initiative’s role in apprehending such violent felons, stating that the program is dedicated to protecting communities from those who victimize them. Chief Randall of the Pensacola Police Department echoed this sentiment, noting the department’s commitment to reducing gun crimes.

This joint investigation was a collaboration between the Pensacola Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton handling the prosecution. Operation Take Back America is part of a larger effort by the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and protect communities from violent crime.
