PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – Prashant M. Jenkins Jr., 24, a resident of Pensacola, Florida, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for possession of an unregistered machinegun. The charge was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
Court documents reveal that on October 30, 2024, law enforcement officers discovered Jenkins’ home harbored an AR-style machinegun conversion device, a Glock pistol with a loaded magazine, a loaded AR-15 magazine, and approximately 500 grams of marijuana. The unregistered conversion device was devoid of a serial number and not listed in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
U.S. Attorney Heekin commended the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and federal ATF agents for their efforts in removing this threat from the streets, stating that his office is committed to tackling such illegal activities. Sentencing has been scheduled for September 30, 2025, at 1 p.m., before United States District Judge M. Casey Rodgers. Jenkins faces up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a firearms ban.
The plea comes from a joint investigation by the ATF and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Alicia H. Forbes is handling the prosecution of this case.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at dismantling criminal organizations and protecting communities. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida is instrumental in these efforts, serving as one of 94 principal litigator offices under the direction of the Attorney General.
