PENSACOLA, FL – Christ’Avian X’Zayvia Rayshon Sheard, 19, faced the harshest of penalties as he was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for the brazen act of possessing a loaded firearm while already a convicted felon. The sentence was handed down by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
Sheard’s transgression occurred on April 2, 2024, when he was found with marijuana and a Taurus 9 millimeter pistol at Sanders Beach. His previous convictions for aggravated assault by threat with a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm were a stark reminder of his violent history.
U.S. Attorney Heekin emphasized the significance of Operation Take Back America, stating, ‘Keeping violent felons like Sheard off the streets is precisely what President Trump and Attorney General Bondi promised.’ He commended law enforcement for their relentless pursuit of such offenders.
Chief Randall of the Pensacola Police Department echoed these sentiments, expressing the department’s dedication to reducing gun crimes and working with federal partners to ensure accountability.
The joint investigation was led by the Pensacola Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton handled the prosecution.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
