Micah E. Hutchinson, 25, Indicted for Stealing $13,780 from Post Office
A postal clerk from Arkansas City, Kansas, has been indicted on a federal charge of stealing more than $13,000 from the Rock, Kansas post office where she worked.
Micah E. Hutchinson, 25, is charged with one count of employee theft from the U.S. Postal Service.
The indictment alleges that from October to December 2015, Hutchinson issued to herself money orders worth approximately $13,780. She cashed the money orders and used the money for her own benefit.
If convicted, Hutchinson faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
The U.S. Postal Service – OIG investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Metzger is prosecuting.
Hutchinson’s case is one of several federal indictments handed down recently in Kansas, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat white-collar crime and protect the public from financial harm.
The indictment against Hutchinson serves as a reminder that the U.S. Postal Service takes allegations of employee theft seriously and will pursue prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
