ALBANY, NEW YORK – Michael A. Connors, a 36-year-old citizen of Ireland, attempted to illegally re-enter the United States.
According to Acting United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and Steven Bronson, United States Customs and Border Protection Port Director for the Champlain Port of Entry, Connors was sentenced to time served (24 days in jail) for the crime.
The announcement was made following the sentencing of Connors, who admitted to attempting to illegally return to the United States after he was removed to Ireland on June 15, 2011.
On June 24, 2017, Connors was arrested as he attempted to enter the United States from Canada by car at the Champlain Port of Entry. He did not have permission to return to the United States following his prior removal.
Following the sentencing, Connors was remanded to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security for removal proceedings.
