On December 9, 2013, three masked men, two of whom were armed with a 9mm handgun and an assault rifle, robbed the Hampton Service Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The robbery was a brazen display of violence, leaving one employee with life-threatening and permanent injuries.
Milwaukee resident Michael Anglin, 25, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit Hobbs robbery, armed Hobbs robbery, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition after a trial in April. Following a thorough investigation, Anglin was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Charles N. Clevert to 230 months’ imprisonment.
The United States Attorney’s Office is committed to addressing violent crime in this district and will continue to prosecute and seek substantial prison sentences for those who use firearms in the commission of crimes, according to Acting United States Attorney Gregory J. Haanstad.
The successful prosecution of this important case was the result of a collaborative law enforcement effort by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Milwaukee Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorneys Kelly B. Watzka and Jonathan H. Koenig prosecuted this case, bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring that those responsible for this heinous crime would face the full weight of the law.
